Personal Website: http://janet.vertesi.com

Janet is a PhD student in Science and Technology Studies, where her dissertation is on the use of visual technologies in the Mars Exploration Rover mission. A sociologist and historian of science by training, Janet is interested in all kinds of intersections between people and technology. Her HCI interests range from images of the city (project on the London Underground Map, participation in CHI 2005 workshop on Urban Technologies, and co-organizing CHI 2007 workshop on Imaging the City) to personal archiving practices (a joint CHI 2006 paper with Jofish Kaye), to reflective methodologies (CHI 2007 paper with Boehner, Sengers and Dourish, CHI 2006 workshop on Reflective HCI). She has also worked on intercultural values of health and aging for Intel's User Centered Design team. Aside from her totally awesome dissertation project, watch for some cool upcoming work on blogs and death ...
